Edgar Degas (19 July 1834 – 27 September 1917), was a French artist famous for his work in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing. Degas is often identified as an Impressionist. The Impressionists painted the realities of the world around them using bright, "dazzling" colors, concentrating primarily on the effects of light, and hoping to infuse their scenes with immediacy.

Degas' work shows mastery of lines. He conveys so much with so few lines. The idea of negative space is highlighted in this work and so is the sense of light and dark which captures viewers attention at once.

Lines in Degas' work come so naturally that it seems that he hardly makes an effort to draw any of them, they are just flowing out of his hand and forming an image. I would like to re-emphasizee that he makes considerable use of negative space in his sketches.

Known in his lifetime as the 'painter of dancers', Edgar Degas explored the world of the ballet in drawings, prints, pastels, painting and sculpture throughout his career. Degas made his first picture of the dance in the 1860's and his last almost half a century later. He was a complex and frankly obsessive individual, the greatest obsession of his long career being the ballet dancer in almost all her manifestations in both public and private modes.

I love water colour paintings but unfortunately i am not good at them. This is my second attempt (not original idea), haven't posted 1st one !) Though I think it appears OK I am not happy with it.
I was in a bad mood so thought of painting and it drew me towards peace!
